I’m getting a puppy because…

I’m getting a puppy because… I’ve lost my mind.

I’m getting a puppy because… I want my boys to learn how to take care of something.

I’m getting a puppy because… My dad would be proud.

I’m getting a puppy because… It’s breaking my 9 year old son’s heart that he doesn’t have a pet.

I’m getting a puppy because…I miss potty training.

I’m getting a puppy because… My husband really wants one.

I’m getting a puppy because… My son wants to teach somebody circus tricks and I’m too old to learn them.

I’m getting a puppy because… It completes my family.

I’m getting a puppy because… I need to pack more into my already bursting at the seams days.

I’m getting a puppy because… I’ve always wondered what if feels like to be unconditionally loved.

I’m getting a puppy because… I like to cuddle.

I’m getting a puppy because… None of my friends think I can handle it.

I’m getting a puppy because… I don’t have anyone else’s hair to brush.

I’m getting a puppy because… After two kids and a husband, I think I might finally be ready to nurture without any expectation.

All good reasons to get a puppy, but #12 is the best.
But be careful – they can be habit forming. (We have four.) Do you have an idea about what sort of puppy you will get?

Lovely and sweet and all things you!

  3. My wife and I will be joining you in about a month, after we move into our new house. We’ve been telling the kids that once we have a house with a fenced in yard, we’ll get a dog. I guess we didn’t think that our crazy life with three second graders (my twins from marriage #1 and my wife’s daughter from marriage #1), two fish, and a cat who’s too fat and lazy to do much of anything wasn’t crazy enough. But having had dogs before, I can’t wait! Good luck!

Debra: I’m pondering a puppy too. I figure that when it piddles all over my carpet, I’ll have an excuse to get those wood floors I’ve always dreamed of. –Lynn
